Pemba is edge of the Quirimbas Archipelago Islands, great for house reefs and of the best with a large variety of different types of soft and hard coral that attracts many types of marine life.

In the North the Arab and Portuguese sailors and traders covered the eastern coast of Africa bringing with them the Islamic and Christian influence. Attracted to the prospect of gold and ivory in nearby regions, they integrated with the Maconde, Macua and Kimwani tribes around the Quirimbas Archipelago Islands down to Angosh and Ilha de Mocambique. Leaving behind historical forts and buildings as a reminder of their activities.

This is water activity country - and there is something for everyone. Embark on the adventure with a sailing safari through Pemba Sailing Safaris and venture to the islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago. Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts can explore the treasures on offer on Pemba's reefs treasured with rich marine life, but they also exist unusually close to the shores, explore around the bay on a Traditional African Arabian dhow trip or visit the Slave Trade Fort, an open plan historical monument where slaves were auctioned off, and is also a great look out and advantage point for incoming ships.
