Lying on the banks of the Sabie River, Hazyview is only 19km from the Numbi Gate entrance to the Kruger National Park so it makes an ideal base for backpackers to explore the surrounding area - especially if accommodation in the park is fully booked.

The banana and avocado pear kingdom of the Lowveld, Hazyview is one of the main entrances to the Kruger National Park and its largest camp, Skukuza.

The area offers many panoramic destinations, but a popular destination for budget travellers is Shangana Cultural Village that offers many delightful goodies and curios and a unique insight into the cultures in the area.

Budget travellers should not miss out on a hot air baloon ride, one of the most popular activities in Hazyview. The views are truly spectacular and unforgettable. Backpackers preferring to keep their feet on the ground can take advantage of the many hiking trails and readily available game viewing opportunities. Grab some nosh at one of the many restaurants and pubs in the area. Pick up some wine and a meal at The Windmill Wineshop, or dig in to a meal at the Big Bones Bistro and Deli in Hazyview.

There are superb options for accommodation in Hazyview for backpackers. Go adventuring with the crew of Hazyview Adventure Backpackers or connect with your wild side at the owner-managed Gecko Backpackers in Hazyview.
