Set on the banks of a lagoon formed by the Bot River, Fisherhaven is on the coastal route between Cape Town and Hermanus and within easy reach of good surfing at Hawston.

Backpackers can visit the Bot River Lagoon and enjoy some easy walking paths winding along the edge of the lagoon and through spectacular fynbos. The estuary is a bird lovers paradise with many species occurring such as Flamingo and Pelican. Look out for the wild horses, which roam the Bot River Lagoon area, enjoying the abundant grazing.

The little village of Fisherhaven has is mostly weekend or holiday homes, and only a few of these, which means that during the week and out of season, Fisherhaven is a place of solitude for rest and reflection.

This is the place to take out your fishing rod, inspire yourself with poetry or read a thick book in peace and quiet.

For those backpackers looking for more action: there is much to see and do within close proximity of Fisherhaven. The nearby Hermanus is ideal for whale watching, Shark cage diving, quad bike tours, restaurants, galleries, abseiling, paragliding, scuba diving and so much more.
