Jacob's Bay is often referred to as ‘Namaqualand by the Sea” because of the burst of colourful wild flowers during springtime on the 2km coastline.

This is the place for budget travellers to enjoy an abundance of seafood, safe bays for canoeing and launching boats and is a paradise for  bird lovers and flower gazers.

Jacob's Bay is largely unspoiled with mostly dirt roads and charming West Coast cottages where backpackers don’t need an excuse to fish, dive, sail, go for long scenic walks or just sit back and relax.

This is a land of beauty, and backpackers shouldn't miss the selection of nature available at the West Coast National Park, and Postberg Flower Reserve in Langebaan, and the wide choice of beaches stretching up and down the coast. Take on the spiral staircase at the Cape Colombine Lighthouse, in Paternoster, trek the beaches on horseback, or step back in time at the West Coast Fossil Park.

Jacobs Bay Backpackers offer rustic backpackers accommodation just south of the town of Paternoster.
