This small piece of paradise lies on a hill overlooking a stunning lagoon that meanders into the sea. Sand dunes soar skywards and the wild beach will tantalise you along its entire length. Forget about your hairdo and go exploring.

The two little villages of Chintsa lie on the banks of the lagoond. Chintsa East, on the north shore and Chintsa West on the south.

There is a wonderfully long stretch of beach to explore, unspoilt and not nearly as busy as the beaches of East London.

Rockfishing is a popular attraction in Chintsa, as well as canoe rides up the river at high tide, walks to Cefani Mouth or a ten minute drive to the Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve, where you can see rhino, giraffe, zebra and a variety of buck.

Buccaneers Backpackers in Chintsa is legendary with budget travellers, offering a choice of accommodation in airy dorms and gorgeous en suite doubles with private sundecks with stunning lagoon and sea views and bedded safari tents.

There is now an ATM in Chintsa!
