Livingstone lies 10 km to the north of the mighty Zambezi River, and there are several adventure companies offering white water rafting, canoeing, horse riding trails, abseiling, boat cruises, walks with lions, elephant back safaris, and tours to the Victoria Falls.

This is the backpackers centre for the Victoria Falls and an historic British colonial city with many places of interest including the Livingstone Museum which contains a collection of memorabilia relating to David Livingstone, Saint Andrews Church — built 1910-11 in memory of David Livingstone and still in use, and the craft markets such as Mukuni Victoria Falls Craft Village.

So if the idea of throwing yourself off bridges, risking life and limb in white water rapids, playing tag with clouds or encountering wild animals head on blows your hair back, then press your “Pause” button.

Jollyboys Backpackers and Camp will provide your backpackers accommodation and their Travel Shop will arrange for any of the adrenalin filled activities you feel brave enough to do.

Or trek an hour up the Zambezi River to Jungle Junction Backpackers, an island in the middle of the river.
